Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information LookupHive.com ("LookupHive," "we," "us") collects from visitors, how we use it, and the rights available to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
Information we collect
LookupHive is a free local search service. We collect limited information, and we do not require you to create an account. In the past 12 months we may have collected the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers and network activity: IP address, browser type, internet service provider, date and time stamps, referring and exit pages, and click counts, recorded in standard server log files.
- Search activity: the search terms and location (city or ZIP) you enter, used to return relevant results.
- Information you submit: if you use a contact or advertiser form, the name, email and message you choose to provide. Our forms open your own email client to send the message; we do not store form submissions on this website.
- Cookies and similar technologies: as described below.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (such as government IDs, precise geolocation, or financial account details) through this site.
How we use information
We use the information above to return relevant search results, to analyze trends and understand how visitors move through the site, to operate and secure the service, to respond to messages you send us, and to serve and measure advertising. We do not use this information to build identifiable profiles of individual visitors.
Cookies
LookupHive uses cookies to remember visitor preferences and tailor page content to your browser type and other information your browser sends. You can disable cookies at any time through your browser settings — see your browser's help pages for instructions. Some features may not function as intended if cookies are disabled.
Third-party advertising
Some of our advertising partners may use cookies and web beacons on this site. These third-party ad servers automatically receive your IP address when ads are delivered to your browser, and they may use technologies such as cookies, JavaScript, or web beacons to measure ad effectiveness and personalize the ads you see.
LookupHive has no access to or control over cookies set by third-party advertisers. Their practices are governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review — including any opt-out instructions they provide. This policy does not cover those advertisers or other websites.
Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to know: request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and any categories shared with third parties.
- Right to delete: request that we delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct: request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out: opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (see below).
- Right to limit sensitive information: direct us to limit use of sensitive personal information — though, as noted, we do not collect sensitive personal information through this site.
- Right to non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise these rights, submit a request through our contact form. We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days, with one possible 45-day extension if needed. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. You may also designate an authorized agent to act on your behalf.
Do not sell or share my personal information
LookupHive does not sell your personal information for money. However, the use of third-party advertising cookies described above may be considered "sharing" or a "sale" of personal information under the CCPA/CPRA. You can opt out at any time in the following ways:
- Global Privacy Control (GPC): if your browser or an extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of sharing, and disable advertising cookies for that browser.
- Browser settings: disable or clear cookies in your browser at any time.
- Request: use our contact form and select the "Do Not Sell or Share" topic, or use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in our footer.
Data retention and security
We retain log and search information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, after which it is aggregated or deleted. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the limited information we hold, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children's privacy
LookupHive is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes take effect when we post the revised policy with a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
